A charity which hosts a weekly event in Crewe has received a whopping £5400 donation.

Congleton charity Ruby's, which hosts an Autism Inclusive Lunch Club for kids and their families Crewe's Apollo Buckingham Health & Science Campus, accepted the hefty check from Macclesfield Roundtable.

They money was raised from this May's Macclesfield Craft Beer & Gin Festival.

Ruby's Project Manager Helen Davies explained how the money will be spent.

"Ruby's support families of children with special educational needs and disabilities [SEND]," she said.

"Thank you to Macclesfield Roundtable for organising Macclesfield Craft Beer and Gin Festival, and choosing Ruby's as one of their charities

"We're hoping the money can provide updates to our Congleton building to make it fully accessible for everybody.

"The downstairs play area is currently fully accessible but there is no accessibility lift to our upstairs space.

As well as their weekly event in Crewe, Ruby's also have a sensory play centre loved by SEND pupils and their families on Roe Street in Congleton. (Image - Alexander Greensmith)

"For the cost of living crisis we are targeting to reopen our café to the public, for the first time since the first lockdown.

"We hope to provide very affordable hot meals over the winter, and also showing people how to cook. It can also be a space families can access [and play in] if they are struggling to heat their own homes.

"Our Crewe SEND lunch club offers families the chance to come and have a cuppa and a chat with other parents in the SEND community.

"Children are welcome to use the sensory room, soft play area and toys.

"Families can bring along a sandwiches or a bite to eat or can buy snacks from the kitchen area at Autism Inclusive if they wish.

"We can chat about what's going on for you, provide information, support and encourage other services to come to our sessions.
