A popular outdoor artisan pop-up market is permanently coming back to Crewe town centre - following a successful trial last year.

Crewe Town Council has teamed up with popular North West artisan company, The Makers Market - to bring 'Crewe Makers Market' to the town centre every month.

This pop-up market will begin on Sunday 19 March - returning the third Sunday of the month there after.

The first ever Crewe Makers Market was held along Hill Street and Lyceum Square back in September - running from 10am until 4pm.

Now, the artisan market will be located in Market Square, along Victoria Street and Market Street - made up of more than 60 stalls.

Crewe Makers Market will showcase award-winning local food, drink, art, craft producers and vintage artisans - as well as live music, and free family activities.

Event manager of the Makers Market, Victoria Crane, was delighted with the response the event got in Crewe first time around.

She said: 'We pride ourselves at the Makers Market in delivering delightful specialist events with many award-winning local producers of unique goods set to inspire.

"Following the fantastic trial event in September last year we can't wait to launch on Sunday 19 March, and every third Sunday thereafter.

"Makers Market is a superb opportunity to find out the origins of your food, meet the maker, feast your eyes upon some goodies and fill those shopping bags - while indulging in some good conversations with our team and traders."

The Makers Market already puts on community markets in the Cheshire towns of Congleton, Knutsford, and Sandbach.

In September, the trialled town centre market consisted of 65 stalls.

Chair of Crewe Town Council Marketing and Events Committee, Cllr Joe Cosby, was delighted with the permanent return of Crewe Makers Market.

He said: "The trial of a Makers Market for Crewe in September went so well and received such great support, we are pleased to be able to confirm that it is coming back to the town centre.

"It will become a regular feature for Crewe.

Crewe Makers Market will consist of over 60 stalls and run free family activities (Crewe Makers Market).

"We hope that the local community and beyond will come into Crewe to support the market, participate in the free family activities and enjoy this market on a monthly basis."

Crewe Makers Market will be running free family activities across its Crewe town centre events.
