Popular Crewe restaurant to close for two-week 'refresh'
By Ryan Parker 19th May 2026
Hickory's Smokehouse Gresty Green will temporarily close next month for a major "refresh," after serving customers in Crewe for over seven years.
The Southern American-style restaurant and bar, which opened on Crewe Road, Shavington, in November 2018, will shut from Monday 1 June until Wednesday 17 June while refurbishment work takes place.
Known for its slow-cooked brisket, ribs, burgers, loaded mac and cheese, pancakes and waffles, the chain has become a popular dining spot in Crewe.
The first Hickory's Smokehouse opened in Chester in 2010, with the restaurant now in over 35 locations across the North West, Midlands, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and North Wales.
Its Crewe smokehouse also features a cinema room for children, landscaped outdoor veranda and garden and sports screens in the bar area.

In a message to customers, Hickory's Smokehouse Gresty Green said: "We've had an incredible seven years and can't thank you enough for all your support, but it's now time for a refresh.
"We'll be closed from Monday 1 June to Wednesday 17 June. Keep an eye out for updates.
"We're still open and smokin' as normal for the next few weeks, so come and join us for your hicks fix before we close."
Hickory's Smokehouse Gresty Green is open 12pm to 10pm (Monday to Thursday), 12pm to 11pm (Friday) and 10am to 11pm (Saturday and Sunday).
While the Crewe restaurant is closed, the nearest Hickory's is located in Wilmslow, 19 miles away. Chester is also 20 miles away.
