Popular Crewe pub thanks customers for the 'memories' after it suddenly closes down

A popular Crewe pub has thanked its customers for "their support and memories over the years" - after it suddenly closed down on a main road in the town.

The Brunswick Hotel, Nantwich Road, closed its doors for the final time on Monday 26 June - much to the shock of regular customers.

Operated by Rob Delaney from Crewe for two years, the venue has been the home of various gigs, parties and events over the years.

Pop and rock covers band, Afterglow, were the last group to perform at The Brunswick before its closure on Saturday 17 June (Ryan Parker).

On Tuesday 27 June, The Brunswick announced its permanent closure with a social media statement.

It read: "It is with a heavy heart we announce last night the Brunswick shut its doors for the final time.

"We would like to thank all our customers for their support and memories over the years. Team Brunswick."

Pop and rock covers band, Afterglow, were the last group to perform at The Brunswick before its closure on Saturday 17 June.

Music performer, Tandie Stahl, along with many others - paid tribute to the Crewe pub on social media.

Operated by Rob Delaney from Crewe, The Brunswick has been the home of various gigs, parties and events over the years (Ryan Parker).

Miss Stahl said: "Very sad, as its been a big part of our band and our home for rehearsals and gigs for many years.

"We will miss it terribly."

Local residents have said the Brunswick had very few beers in stock over recent weeks.

Departing from the pub, Mr Delaney paid tribute, telling Nub News: "I'd like to thank all the wonderful customers and staff that have been with us for the two years.

On Tuesday 27 June, The Brunswick announced its permanent closure with a social media statement (Ryan Parker).

"The pub has been a massive part of all our lives with many memories and lots of friends made.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure on the pub's future plans and I hope that it can remain as a pub, but it's not looking likely."
