Popular Crewe pub raises 'incredible amount' for local wellbeing charity

A popular Crewe pub raised an "incredible amount" of £5,000 for a local wellbeing charity, following a successful fundraising weekend.

This July, The Raven, Brookhouse Drive, held a charity fundraiser weekend in aid of Crewe-based charity, The Wishing Well.

In an action-packed two-day summer celebration, the Crewe pub put on a range of family friendly activities, including: a tombola, raffle, lucky dip, and craft stalls.

The Raven raised an 'incredible amount' of £5,000 for local wellbeing charity, The Wishing Well (Nub News).

The main draw for the occasion in the daytime was a virtual cycle ride from Crewe to Paris, completed by Raven staff, customers and volunteers.

There was a "Stars in Your Eyes" karaoke event, as well as a variety of live music from local bands, providing further fundraising opportunities. 

Manager of The Raven, Julie Moore, told Nub News: "The Raven holds an annual charity fundraiser and this year we were delighted to partner with The Wishing Well, a wellbeing charity that operates locally.

"Our customers responded magnificently to the challenge with everyone enjoying a family fun weekend at the pub."

The main draw for the occasion in the daytime was a virtual cycle ride from Crewe to Paris which was completed by Raven staff, customers and volunteers (The Raven).

Other activities across the weekend, Included: Kid's corner, afternoon tea, playing card bingo, photos in the stocks and a doughnut eating challenge.

Chief Executive of The Wishing Well, Charles Maines, added: "We are all aware of how difficult the last few years have been for local people and local businesses.

"For The Raven to have raised this incredible amount to support our cause is truly remarkable.

"Our grateful thanks to Julie, Kev and all of the Raven team and customers who have directly helped to improve the health and wellbeing of local people."

The Raven held a 'Stars in Your Eyes' karaoke event, as well as hosting a variety of live music from local bands (Ryan Parker).

The Wishing Well confirmed to Nub News every pound raised is already being put to good use.

Planned works to refurbish Community Hub (Jubilee House, St Paul's Street) is able to proceed this September, thanks to the donation from The Raven.
