Local man arrested following A500 'altercation' which left HGV driver injured

A 53-year-old local man has been arrested and released under investigation following an incident on the Shavington bypass, which left a HGV driver injured.

Police closed the road temporarily and are now appealing for witnesses to the incident around 4:45pm on Friday 17 May, on the A500 Shavington Bypass.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "Officers attended the scene and on arrival they found there had been an altercation between the driver of an HGV and the driver of a black Mercedes. 

A 53-year-old man from Wybunbury was arrested at the scene and has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries (Cheshire Police).

"During the incident, the driver of the HGV, a 53-year-old man from Bradford, was struck by the Mercedes and sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital.  

"The driver of the Mercedes, a 53-year-old man from Wybunbury, was arrested at the scene. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries. 

"The road was closed while officers dealt with the incident. It reopened at around 8.15pm." 

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing, with anyone with any information asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting: IML 1825809.
