Police close off Crewe tip following reports of 'suspicious package'

Police closed off Crewe's tip to the public on Sunday 31 May, following reports of a "suspicious package" at the site.
At 11.23am, Cheshire Police were alerted to a potentially dangerous package being dropped off at Crewe Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Pyms Lane.
Officers closed off the Crewe tip to the general public while investigating the package, with everyone evacuated by site staff.
The item turned out to be lithium battery packs, with no danger to the public.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 11.23am on Sunday 31 May, police were called to reports of a suspicious package in Pyms Lane, Crewe.
"Following enquiries, it was determined to be lithium battery packs and was not suspicious."
