A pedestrian in currently in hospital with "serious injuries" after being hit by a car near Crewe, with the driver arrested on suspicion of careless driving.

At 10:58pm on Saturday 8 June, police were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Radway Green Road, Barthomley.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a "poorly condition."

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Crewe, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving (Cheshire Police).

He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Inspector Steve Griffiths said: "We would urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken o police to contact us.

"The same goes for anyone who has dashcam or other footage of the collision."
