A furious Crewe resident has had his say on the "appalling" state of Victoria Shopping Centre, within Crewe town centre.

Ian Warrender, walked around the dilapidated shopping centre this July, taking photos and writing to Crewe Central Labour councillor, Anthony Critchley, with his concerns.

The Crewe resident highlighted issues with overgrown weeds, structural issues, pigeon faeces, blocked drains and litter.

On Monday 17 July, Mr Warrender gave his opinion on the Asda-owned shopping centre to Nub News.

He said: "As a concerned person born and bred in Crewe, I would like to highlight the long-standing poor condition of the Victoria Shopping centre in the town centre.

"Due to continued neglect, it is in an appalling and a very concerning condition, in what was a jewel in Crewe, marking its heritage and also a gateway to our town. 

A large number of Crewe residents have complained to Nub News about the state of Victoria Shopping Centre (Nub News).

"It is not just over grown with weeds, it has numerous walkway structural issues, blocked drains and pigeon faeces.

"There are cigarette ends and chewing gum everywhere as you can see from the attached photography.

"I am sure you will agree this is not the impression we need to give to the few visitors that venture in Crewe nowadays.

Victoria Shopping Centre is currently plagued by overgrown weeds, litter, blocked drains and structural issues (Ryan Parker).

"It is also a health and safety concern. This is a key reason why most of the shops there are empty."

A large number of Crewe residents have complained to Nub News about the state of Victoria Shopping Centre.

Crewe resident, Hazel Lea, added: "That area is disgusting. It needs a dam good clean up.

"There are weeds everywhere. Never seen it look so run down and neglected.

"Asda need to get their fingers out and clean it up."
