Cheshire East Council has confirmed Crewe town centre's new multi-storey car park will officially open on Monday 29 July.

The new 389-space car park, accessed from Delamere Street, will be open 7am to 12am, Monday to Saturday.

Costing £11m to build, the car park and was due to open at the end of 2023, but it was put back when a worker was taken to hospital, suffering minor injuries at the site.

The council later announced the car park would open in May and again on July 9. The later never materialised due to a "technical issue."

On 26 July, a Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "We are pleased to share with you that Crewe's new multi-storey car park will open on Monday 29 July

"The new long-stay car park will be open between 7am and midnight, when it will then be locked. It's open Monday to Saturday."

Crewe's new multi storey car park includes:

  • Ticketed barriers at the entrance/exit to the car park. Access at the pedestrian entrances is restricted to only those who have a parking ticket and are returning to their vehicle
  • CCTV across the site, including at the lobby areas of the car park, which is monitored.
  • 20 electric vehicle charging points (including two for disabled drivers), located on the top floor of the car park.
  • Parent and child spaces
  • Solar panels, these will minimise the energy costs of both the car park and new bus station.
