Young people living in Crewe are being invited to choose the new name and brand for their Youth Zone, with a 129-space long stay car park now closed for the development.
Over the past two months, the Youth Zone's Young People's Development Group (YPDG), comprising of local young people aged 11 to 19 have been working with design agency Bird who have created two new brand names to be put to a public vote; Pod and The Dome.
The YPDG is now inviting all young people across Crewe to have their say in a public vote over the summer, and the winning brand will become the Youth Zone's name.
Oak Street Car Park permanently closed on Monday 8 July to make way for the project, targeted to open in spring 2025.
The YPDG told Nub News it chose Pod because it: "Relates to the feeling of togetherness and having a space where you can be with others, feel comfortable and discover new interests. It related to themes of growth, discovery and safety."
They said The Dome was chosen as it: "Links to the idea everyone is welcome, and you can explore your passions in a place that's just for you. It related to ideas of unity, shelter and elevation."
A member of the Young People's Development Group, Daisy, 19, said: "I found the experience good overall.
"What I enjoyed most is listening to other people's ideas. What surprised me most was that there was so many ideas."
Young people and community engagement leads are out in the community and schools collecting votes, with a final count being taken after the school holidays.
The vote is just for young people, and they can also vote online by visiting HERE.
Nicola Simpson, from Bird Agency, said: "Working with young people on the Crewe Youth Zone brand has been nothing short of inspirational.
"They arrived with bags of enthusiasm, threw themselves into the process and showed us just how creative young minds can be.
"The insight from the Young People's Development Group means we have developed brands that truly connect, reflecting what they want from the space."
The Young People's Development Group will have a significant input into a number of key milestones in the Youth Zone's development.
This is from interior design to interviewing potential staff members and raising awareness in the community,
Crewe Youth Zone will be based on 15 similar OnSide Youth Zones operating across the country.
Young people will be able to access over 20 activities every night, ranging from sports such as football, boxing and climbing, to creative arts, music, drama and employability training.
All of this is priced at £5 for an annual membership and 50p per visit.
Trained youth workers and dedicated volunteers will be available seven days a week to offer guidance and support to help Crewe's young people to thrive.
The new Youth Zone will create permanent full and part-time jobs, as well as volunteering opportunities.
This development will be funded by a range of private and public sector contributions, including Cheshire East Council, The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust and the Department of Culture Media and Sport through the transformational Youth Investment Fund grant.
