New live theatre show with TV stars brings life to empty Crewe shop this week

An empty shop unit in Crewe's Market Shopping Centre is being transformed into a high-energy theatre venue this May, as the feel-good production 'Keep On Keepin' On' arrives in town.
Running at 7.30pm from Tuesday 13 May to Saturday 17 May, inside the old River Island unit, the show promises a powerful mix of music, comedy, and heart, all set against the backdrop of the Northern Soul scene.
The Crewe show is a site-specific sequel to Mick Martin's cult hit Once Upon a Time in Wigan, ready to fill the vacant retail space with rhythm, story, and soul.

Keep On Keepin' On tells the story of Eugene, a down-on-his-luck DJ trying to keep his Northern Soul-themed discount shop afloat, and Maxine, his ex-wife who returns seeking help for their recently released son.
Their chaotic plan pulls them back into each other's lives and into a heartfelt tale of resilience, music, and community.
Starring Neil Bell (Peaky Blinders, Shameless, 24 Hour Party People) and Caroline Chesworth (Coronation Street, Brassic), the production also features Laura Bayston, Ashley Luke Lloyd, and Christine Walsh.
The show is being supported by Crewe Town Council and the Lyceum Theatre, with the project aiming to spark conversations about the future of struggling town centres and the potential for creative solutions on the high street.
A Crewe Town Council spokesperson said: "Northern Soul has played a big part in the lives of many across Crewe and neighbouring Stoke-on-Trent.

"This show will bring back great memories and provide a high-quality production for all to enjoy."
