New women's centre to launch in former Crewe TUI unit
By Ryan Parker 29th May 2026
A crowdfunding campaign is underway as Her-Place Charitable Trust prepares to open a new women's centre in Crewe town centre.
The women and girl's charity needs £5,000 to equip the former TUI, Victoria Centre, and is calling on the public to do whatever it can to help.
This new centre will be a safe space for women, girls and families and the venue for pop-up events such as women's health, police surgeries and legal drop-ins.
Her-Place Charitable Trust also hopes to launch a community laundrette where families can wash and dry their clothes free of charge.
A similar scheme runs at its base in Winsford and is hugely popular with local families.
Work is already moving at pace to convert the former shop and the aim is to get it up and running as a Women's Centre by September.

Her-Place founder, Kate Blakemore, told Nub News "This is a huge undertaking for us at a time when economic forces are impacting so many local causes.
"We can't emphasis enough however what an important asset this centre will be to Crewe.
"We've had several tradespeople in already, doing things such as sorting the electric, which has been expensive, digging deep into the funds we had.
"So we're appealing to the wonderful local people of Crewe and beyond to do what they can.
"We are asking individuals, businesses, schools, groups and all to come together and help make this happen.
"Whether you raise £20 or £2,000 every single donation makes an impact. Together we can build something special for the community.
"Every cake sale, sponsored walk, raffle, dress-down day or challenge fundraiser brings us one step closer to opening the doors of our new women's centre."
Her-Place Charitable Trust has run a busy hub on Beech Drive, Wistaston Green, for over ten years.
It is home to a poplar school uniform recycling scheme, activity groups and counselling sessions.
The charity supports women who have experienced trauma, disadvantage and inequality. I
ts work is rooted in lived experience, compassion and a deep understanding of the barriers many women face from domestic abuse and mental health challenges to poverty, isolation and systemic inequality.
