New wine bar and deli to open in Crewe town centre
By Ryan Parker 2nd Nov 2026
A new wine bar and deli looks set to be opening inside a former Crewe town centre clothes shop, as plans progress to bring the entire vacant building back into use.
Mizabibu Wine & Deli Limited has submitted a premises licence application to Cheshire East Council on behalf of Unit 1, Burford House, Earle Street.
The proposed venue would occupy part of the former Ethel Austin and Select Fashion, where work is already under way to create 25 apartments on the upper floors.
Submitted on 29 October, the application seeks permission for the sale of alcohol both for consumption on and off the premises.
The proposed hours for alcohol sales are 8am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 10pm Sunday.

This building was previously occupied by Select Fashion, which relocated to The Market Shopping Centre in July 2024 and closed in early 2025.
Before that, the premises were home to clothing retailer Ethel Austin.
Plans for the upper floors were first reported by Crewe Nub News in May 2025, with approval granted that June.
The redevelopment includes 12 flats on the first floor, with 13 on the second floor.
The large ground-floor commercial space has since been divided into two units, with Mizabibu Wine & Deli set to occupy Unit 1.
The prominent corner unit remains available to let.
Representations to Mizabibu Wine & Deli's application shall be made in writing to Cheshire East Council Licensing Section on or before Thursday 26 November.
You can also submit your representation by emailing: [email protected].
