New restaurant with 'homemade family recipes' opens in Crewe town centre

A new noodle restaurant offering 'homemade family recipes' has opened in Crewe town centre - more than two years after the unit became vacant.

Hong's Noodle Dumpling Bar, Earle Street, officially opened on Tuesday (October 18) - employing two members of staff from the Crewe area.

The new eatery has replaced Earle Street Cafe and Takeaway which closed down in 2020 - during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"My friends used to run a takeaway and restaurant in Crewe and recommended that I open one here, said business owner, Mr Simon Shen.

Hong's Noodle Dumpling Bar has two front of house staff - with Mr Shen cooking and preparing with his chef in the kitchen.

Mr Shen told Nub News: "I have come from Shropshire. I didn't know much about Crewe but do know it's very good for transport links.

"This restaurant has all of our homemade family recipes. The main selling point is the box deals we sell.

"When the customer comes in they can choose a small, medium or large box.

Customers can choose a small, medium or large box with a noodle or rice base and oen to three toppings (Ryan Parker).

"They can choose rice or noodles as a base then they can have one topping for a small box, two toppings for a medium box and three topping for a large.

"The toppings for a large box can either be three separate ones or three times an amount of one."

"I believe I offer small prices for a lot of choice."

Mr Shen has been delighted with the feedback his new Crewe business has received so far.

The eatery is currently operating within a trial period. A complete menu will be decided once it has been fully tried and tested by customers.

Hong's Noodle Dumplign Bar has replaced Earle Street Cafe and Takeaway which closed down in 2020 - during the COVID-19 pandemic (Ryan Parker).

The 57-year-old said: "I have had very good feedback so far, it's all been positive.

"They have said we offer very big portions and they love the taste of our food."

"In the future we are looking to employ more staff. This is all new to us and we will progress further.

"We will be selling dumplings soon. They are all handmade and will be prepared in the evenings when the shop is closed."

Hong's Noodle Dumpling Bar is open 12:00pm to 8:30pm (Monday to Saturday). It is closed on Sundays (Ryan Parker).

Mr Shen is a big fan of Crewe people and the newly-redeveloped Crewe Market Hall

He added: "Crewe is a lovely place filled with lovely people and it is very diverse. Our customers so far have been really polite.

"I also chose this spot because it is so close to Crewe Market Hall.

"Lots of people go there to eat. This place offers even more choice to that in the town centre."

Hong's Noodle Dumpling Bar is open 12:00pm to 8:30pm (Monday to Saturday). It is closed on Sundays.
