A new "reasonably priced" grocery store has opened its doors in Crewe, appealing to the Asian community in the town.
Spice of Asia, Coleridge Way, officially opened at 8am on Friday 5 July.
The new shop is managed by Mr Sathis Sabaratnam, who also runs Go Local Extra across the road.
Sathis also previously operated JD's Off Licence, which is now the unit for Spice of Asia.
He told Nub News: "We are an Asian grocery store selling the likes of spices, rice, fresh meat and fish, and fruit and vegetables.
"We serve grocery items from the likes of Africa, India, Philippines and Sri Lanka.
"People were asking in my Go Local Extra store across the road for Asian stock.
"Many of these customers work in Leighton Hospital, which is why we will be offering 10 per cent off for all NHS staff from August."
Spice of Asia also serves a variety of frozen food, sauces, snacks and cold drinks.
Sathis said: "There is a lot of variety in our shop, you can't see so much in other shops like this around the town.
"We are very reasonably priced at Spice of Asia. People told me they were going to the likes of Stoke and Stockport for this kind of food.
"So far, our business has started well but fairly slowly. We have had a lot of repeat customers and that is a positive sign."
Spice of Asia is open on Coleridge Way, 8am to 9pm, Monday to Sunday.
