A growing convenience store chain has opened its first branch in Crewe, at the site of a former McColl's shop.

Go Local Extra, Coleridge Way, soft launched this January and celebrated its official launch over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Manager, Mr Sathis Sabaratnam, who previously operated JD's Off Licence, Coleridge Way, decided to join the Go Local Extra network, which now has over 500 UK stores.

Go Local Extra is currently open from 7am until 10pm, seven days per week, with these times subject to change from demand (Ryan Parker).

Go Local Extra sells a variety of items, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, grocery, chilled and frozen foods and soft drinks.

It also serves beer and wine, newspapers, and tobacco and vapes, with an inside ATM and lottery coming soon.

The new Crewe shop offers Payzone, PayPoint, and a parcel service with Evri, DPD, and Amazon.

Sathis told Nub News: "Trade at our new Go Local Extra store has been brilliant so far.

Go Local Extra launched after McColl's and Post Office closed down in January 2023 (Ryan Parker).

"The number of customers coming in is going up every week, with more and more people becoming aware of us.

"At our store, we offer very reasonable prices. Go Local Extra is very competitive.

"Go Local Extra were very supportive in the opening of this shop. We fitted it and they supplied us with everything else. It is no wonder they continue to grow.

"Jd's Off Licence is currently closed, but we plan to reopen this as an Asian grocery store, offering the diverse population of Crewe something different.

"We plan to do this in the near future. Keep your eyes peeled for this."

The former Jd's Off Licence store is set to become a new Asian grocery store later this year (Nub News).

Go Local Extra launched one year after McColl's and Post Office closed down in the unit, deemed one of 132 'unprofitable' stores by Morrisons.

The Coleridge Way shop is currently open from 7am until 10pm, seven days per week, with these times subject to change from demand.
