New Crewe town centre venue set to host first comedy night of 2023

A new Crewe town centre venue is set to host its first comedy night of 2023 - featuring an award winning stand-up comedian and UK comedy circuit acts.

Crewe Central comprising new bar, The Kennel, and a performance space, will host Stand Up Comedy Night on Friday 3 March - featuring an array of hilarious acts.

Crewe Market Hall's latest expansion opened in June last year and will be hosting Stand Up Comedy Night throughout 2023.

For the March gig, doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm.

Headlining the night is Tony Burgess - an award winning stand-up comedian, comedy writer and actor.

As well as performing stand-up all over the UK for over 25 years – he's also written sitcoms for the BBC, plays for The Royal Exchange Theatre and written for many big name comedians such as Steve Coogan, John Bishop, and Johnny Vegas.

You may recognise Tony from his role in the cult BBC Three comedy, Ideal, where he played DJ Troy.

Headlining the night is Tony Burgess - an award winning stand-up comedian, comedy writer and actor (Nub News).

He wrote on the first two series of Ideal, co-wrote Sony Award winning BBC Radio 4 comedy, The Nightclass, with Johnny Vegas and penned his own seven part BBC sitcom The Visit.

Crewe Central's opening act is Howard Walker, a previous Yorkshire Comedy Cellar New Act winner who proffers oodles of warmth with observations on everyday life. 

As an Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year finalist, Howard takes his captivating stories across the UK to charm and entertain, and find the answer to the age old question; where can you find free parking after 6?

There will also be a set from Sarah Louise Keegan who has performed across the UK including the Opera House Winter Gardens, The Frog and Bucket and The Comedy Store.

She has also performed at The Richmond Theatre alongside Jo Brand and Adam Hills, and with the wonderful Peter Kay in Bolton. 

Sarah loves a good sing along, so be ready to get involved - rhythm and harmony welcome.

There will also be a set from Sarah Louise Keegan who has performed with the wonderful Peter Kay in Bolton (Nub News).

The MC for the night is quick-fire gag merchant Ben Turner - a World One Liner Championship and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire New Act of the Year finalist.

Ben has racked up three million views on Facebook Reels and was included in the Daily Telegraph and The Poke's funniest jokes of lockdown. 

Crewe Central has scheduled free non-ticketed and ticketed live events and performances for the upcoming months.

Visitors to the event will be able to purchase food and drink from Crewe Market Hall's wide variety of traders.
