New Crewe swimming pool development given green light in disused building
A new indoor swimming pool development has been given the green light in Crewe, located at the site of a disused industrial building.
On Friday 15 December, Cheshire East Council approved Aquadots Swim School's application at the site of Unit 2, The Training Centre, Wistaston Road Business Centre.
Operated by Abi and Joe Welsh, The Tamworth company caters for beginners, improvers and advanced swimmers, delivering mostly group lessons with some private sessions.
The age ranges from three months right through to teenagers. Aquadots is also targeting customers over 18.
Crewe's new above-ground heated swimming pool will be sized at six metres by 12 metres.
There will be also be nine changing rooms, an activity/training space, viewing gallery, reception area, staff office and a communal area.
Satisfied with the proposals, a Cheshire East planning officer said: "The application proposals are considered to be acceptable as a matter of principle.
"The scheme is of an acceptable design and would not result in a significant visual impact on the street scene in general.
"The impact on residential amenity and highway safety is considered to be acceptable."
Aquadots Swim School has confirmed there will be a maximum of two members of staff on site at anytime.
A business plan adds: "The business is currently owned and operated by Abi and Joe Welsh.
"They manage all operations and together they have grown the business to teach more than 450 swimmers each week supported by a team of 10 teachers and seven pool assistants.
"Their mission has been to deliver the best quality, affordable and fun swimming lessons in and around Tamworth.
"Having moved to Cheshire, they want to grow beyond their first location and expand Aquadots into Crewe, Nantwich and the surrounding area."
