Cheshire East Council has given the green light for a new children's home in Crewe, located on a terraced street in the town.

This March, Applicant, Garry Nelson, of Forward Foot Steps, applied for a change of use from residential use to a children's home at 257 Walthall Street.

The applicant proposed a home for 'no more than' three children, between the ages of 10 and 17.

Applicant, Garry Nelson, will make a home for 'no more than' three children, between the ages of 10 and 17 on Walthall Street (Ryan Parker).

Following approval from Cheshire East, the applicant has agreed to have this number restricted by condition to two children in the interests of amenity.

There will be a staff member in the home 24/7, with a manager also present, Monday to Friday.

The application site is a two-storey east-facing mid-terraced home, situated at the Nantwich Road end of Walthall Street.

The house has previously been extended westwards by a kitchen/washroom outrigger, with this predating planning history.

Limited internal works will be carried out to accommodate the new use. No external alterations or extensions to the property have been proposed.

A Cheshire East planning officer said: "The proposed development would be acceptable in principle in this location.

"There would be no material harm to the character of the area in visual amenity terms.

"There are no further residential amenity impacts and there would not be an adverse highway safety impact.

"Therefore, it is duly recommended that planning permission is granted."

Cheshire Police made no objections against the new Crewe children's home proposal.
