A new breakfast and lunch bar has launched opposite Crewe Alex FC, replacing a former fish and chip shop which closed last year.

Benny's Breakfast & Lunch Bar, Gresty Road, officially opened at 7:30am on Tuesday 19 March.

Operated by Margaret Kilgannon, the business replaces her previous business, Benny's Fish & Chips, which closed down in May 2023.

Benny's Breakfast & Lunch Bar is operated by Margaret Kilgannon, who previously ran Benny's Fish & Chips (Ryan Parker).

Benny's offers a large variety of food, including breakfasts, burgers, chips, oven baked jacket potatoes, paninis and minced beef in gravy.

It also serves a number of cold and hot drinks and homemade desserts, including a selection of brownies and cheesecakes.

Benny's offers its breakfast menu between 7:30am and 11:30pm, with its lunch menu then served until 3pm.

The breakfast and lunch bar also has a new indoor seating area for customers, seating up to four people.

Margaret told Nub News: "We are delighted to open Benny's Breakfast & Lunch Bar in Crewe.

Benny's Breakfast and Lunch Bar is open 7:30am until 3pm (Tuesday to Saturday), with the business open on all Crewe Alex FC match days (Ryan Parker).

"Our breakfasts are served until 11:30am and we will be open on Crewe Alex FC match days, for both afternoon and evening kick offs.

"We can't wait for people to come and try our food, we have something for everyone.

"I am so glad to be back. I had no choice but to close the chip shop when my nephew wanted to leave and I couldn't do the job on my own.

"We are still serving all the chip shop stuff, like fishcakes, sausages, curry, gravy, doner meat, salt and pepper chicken, crispy chicken breast bites and cheesy chips.

"I am not doing fresh fish because I have a serious allergy to it and I won't have a fryer man to do all the fish preparation."

Benny's Breakfast and Lunch Bar has a new indoor seating area for customers, seating up to four people (Ryan Parker).

Benny's Fish and Chips remains trading at The Precinct, Readesdale Avenue, operated by Margaret's husband.

The Gresty Road eatery is open 7:30am until 3pm (Tuesday to Saturday), with the business open on all Crewe Alex FC match days.
