NatWest announces imminent closure of branch close to Crewe

NatWest says it will be closing its Hightown branch, Sandbach, on February 8 2023 (Nub News).

NatWest has announced it is closing a Cheshire branch - just 5.8 miles from Crewe.

The bank says it will be closing the Hightown branch on February 8 2023 - following a reduction in counter customers.

The closest branch now for Sandbach customers is on The Square, Crewe. 

The closest NatWest branch for Sandbach customers will be on The Square, Crewe (Google).

NatWest say there were 51 per cent fewer counter transaction in January this year compared to January 2019.

In 2021, the bank says 72 per cent of personal customers using the Sandbach branch also chose to use on-line banking.

It also says the branch was only used by 157 business customers on a regular basis last year.

A NatWest spokesperson said: "With the ease of mobile and online banking fewer people are coming into the bank.

"This means we've had to make some tough choices about which can stay open.

The imminent closure of the Sandbach branch follows a reduction in counter customers (Nub News).

"So, we want to make sure that we keep the branches people are using most."

The NatWest Sandbach branch is one of 43 branches closing .

The bank says it will do all it can to keep customers informed.

The spokesperson added: "The way people bank with us has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services as customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank.

Sandbach's NatWest branch is located just 5.8 miles from Crewe's branch (Wikipedia).

"Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously.

"We know it can affect people who are less confident with the alternatives we offer, and we'll always work hard to guide you through the changes and find the best way to serve you from now on."
