A Nantwich man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft, criminal damage, assault by beating and drugs possession, following a citizen's arrest in Crewe.

On Tuesday 9 April, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on Macon Way.

At around 6:45pm, officers arrived at the scene, discovering the suspect had been detained by members of the public.

A 55-year-old man from Nantwich had allegedly stolen a bike wheel and an e-scooter on Macon Way (Ryan Parker).

The man, 55, had allegedly stolen a bike wheel and an e-scooter.

After being searched by police, the man was found to be in possession of Class B and Class C drugs.

He was arrested for the offences and remains in police custody, with an investigation ongoing.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "On Tuesday 9 April, around 6.45pm, we received reports a male had been detained by members of the public on Macon Way, after he allegedly had stolen a bike wheel and an e-scooter.

"Crewe Response Team attended the incident and searched the male.

"He was found in possession of Class B and Class C drugs.

The Nantwich man was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft, criminal damage, assault by beating and drugs possession (Cheshire Police).

"The male, 55, from Nantwich, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, attempted theft, assault by beating and possession of a Class B and Class C drug.

"The male is currently in custody, assisting officers with their enquiries.

"Anyone with information or any CCTV/dash cam/video footage should contact Cheshire Police via the website, quoting reference number: 24000326600."
