MORE than 600 vacancies were offered to job seekers during the Crewe and Nantwich Virtual Jobs Fair.

The online event, held on August 26, was organised by Cheshire and Warrington Pledge and Local Enterprise Partnership, Cheshire East Council, Job Centre Plus and the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce to help stimulate the local jobs market which has taken a battering under Covid-19.

Many employers signed up from sectors including logistics, health and social care, public sector and utilities to let people know of their latest opportunities.

Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan says he was spurred on to help co-ordinate the event after learning of up to 1,000 job cuts at Bentley Motors.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak MP lent his support, recording a video message to open the fair.

The MP said: "The day itself was very busy and fast paced. I think it was a superb jobs fair and let's hope many people around Crewe and Nantwich gain employment from it.

"I already know of a number of people who have interviews from attending the fair."

The MP is asking for feedback from those who took part and whether they were able to apply for any of the jobs on offer.

Those who were unable to take part in the online event can watch the job opportunity videos and the question and answers with employers here.
