IT was all change at Crewe for the Queen ahead of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Well not quite, but Crewe Town Council has thrown itself into the spirit of next week's celebrations for the monarch's 70th year on the throne.

Council staff were helped by film students from Staffordshire University to create a fun video aiming to showcase Crewe and commemorate the special occasion.

The premise of the film is that the Queen's Royal Train has terminated in Crewe on the way to Balmoral for a break in advance of the celebrations.

'Her Majesty' chooses to spend the afternoon incognito in the town.

She visits Crewe Heritage Centre and takes a ride on the swan boats in Queens Park with Crewe Town Mayor Cllr Nan Walton.

She even has time to pop into the Cheese Hall pub in Earle Street to watch some horse racing with a pint.

'The Queen' paid a visit to Crewe Heritage Centre.

The town council says the look-alike Queen engaged in the clip (which you can view below) is vastly experienced at imitating our head of state, having performed in the role for over 20 years. She has even appeared as Her Majesty on the London West End stage.

The council previously linked up with film students from the university to release a Christmas Lights Switch on video last December.

There is plenty going on in Crewe to mark the Jubilee.

The showcase event is a family-friendly day, co-sponsored by the council, at Queens Park a week tomorrow (June 3), which runs from 11am until 6pm.

There will also be Union Jack bunting and Platinum Jubilee signage in the town centre and local schools are planting commemorative trees with plaques.

Queen's Platinum Jubilee resources are being released to school pupils at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

And there are also events in Crewe Library throughout half-term week.

Remember that the late May Bank Holiday, usually held on the last Monday of the month, has been moved to Thursday, June 2 and is followed by an extra Bank Holiday on Friday, June 3, meaning that the celebrations coincide with a four-day holiday period.

The look-alike monarch even had time for a bite to eat in the town centre.
