Man arrested on suspicion of rape and firearms offences following helicopter incident
A 62-year-old Crewe man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and firearms offences - following a police helicopter incident in the town.
A Cheshire Police helicopter was seen above the Nantwich Road area of Crewe around 9pm on Sunday 21 May.
The helicopter was supporting armed officers in finding a Crewe man wanted on suspicion of rape and firearms offences.
Officers attended an address on Walthall Street with support from the helicopter - later arrested a 62-year-old man.
The helicopter was above Crewe until 9:19pm - with local residents seeing it from as far as Wistaston and Leighton areas.
On Monday 22 May, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Crewe Nub News.
A spokesperson said: "As part of an investigation into a rape and firearms offence, officers supported by the police helicopter attended an address on Walthall Street.
"Police arrested a 62-year-old man at around 9pm on Sunday 21 May."
