Man arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assaulting emergency services worker
A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and assaulting an emergency services worker - after a large disturbance in Crewe.
The incident was reported on Sherbourne Road, Crewe, yesterday (August 7) - at approximately 3:10pm.
Cheshire Police searched the area and found a man on the roof of a Middlewich Street property.
The street was closed to motorists for a number of hours - allowing officers to deal with the incident.
Local residents were urged to stay inside for their own safety.
Today (August 8), a Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson told Nub News: "Officers were called to Sherbourne Road, Crewe at around 3.10pm on Sunday (August 7), following reports of a disturbance at an address.
"Police swiftly attended the scene and made a search of the area and found a man on a roof of a property on Middlewich Street.
"Road closures were in place on Middlewich Street while patrols dealt with the incident.
"At around 10pm a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker, affray, assault and criminal damage."
Crowds gathered on the fields behind Middlewich Road to see the disturbance. Officers were seen trying to get the man to come down.
A number of local residents have since taken to social media, saying a number of cars and properties have been damaged.
Middlewich Road was reopened by officers once the incident was dealt with.
This incident comes just days after a car smashed into a Crewe chip shop nearby.
