South Cheshire funeral of 24-year-old soldier who died in Ukraine takes place today

The funeral of a 24-year-old British solder from Sandbach who died fighting in Ukraine - takes place today (August 8).

Jordan Gatley who went to school in Sandbach, died fighting alongside the Ukrainian forces against Russian invaders in early June. 

Jordan, a former pupil of Sandbach School, was shot and killed in the city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine.

Jordan Gatley sadly died fighting in Ukraine back in June (Dean Gatley).

His funeral service took place at 1:30 pm at St Mary's Church, Nantwich, before the final journey to the crematorium in Crewe at 2:45 pm.

A wake will then take place at Sandbach Rugby Club, Bradwall Road.

Donations for two charities will be in the church - optional cash/card collection points in church for both charities.
