20-year-old man arrested after car ploughs into popular Crewe chip shop
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving - after his car smashed into a popular Crewe chip shop.
The incident on Coronation Street, Crewe, was reported to Cheshire Police last night (August 3), at 10:10pm.
Officers arrived at the scene to find a grey Audi A3 Saloon had collided with Coronation Fish Bar.
The 20-year-old driver and a 20-year-old passenger were both treated by paramedics at the scene - there were no reports of any serious injuries.
Today (August 4), a Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 10.10pm last night, police were called to reports of a collision on Coronation Street, Crewe.
"Officers attended the scene and found that a grey Audi A3 had collided with a building, a fish and chip shop.
"The driver of the car, a 20-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and drug driving.
"Both he and a passenger from the vehicle, also a 20-year-old man, were treated at the scene by paramedics.
"There were no reports of any serious injuries.
"Coronation Street is currently closed due to structural damage to the building and residents are advised to avoid the area."
Coronation Street remains closed following the collision last night.
At approximately 8:30am, Crewe Police posted on social media: "Please avoid the area and plan your journeys."
