Man arrested for possession of Class A drugs in Cheshire Derby encounter

Cheshire Police arrested one man for the possession of Class A drugs before the Cheshire Derby match - following a search outside the stadium.

The incident on Gresty Road happened as fans were entering Mornflake stadium for the Crewe Alexandra versus Stockport County EFL League Two encounter on Tuesday (January 31).

A large Cheshire Police presence was deployed for game - bringing a number of cars, riot vans and dog units.

Cheshire Police told Nub News the majority of Crewe and Stockport supporters were 'well behaved' (Ryan Parker).

Officers were seen in high numbers on Gresty Road, South Street and Nantwich Road.

One man however, was arrested for possession of Class A drugs before entering Mornflake Stadium.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "The majority of Crewe and Stockport fans were well behaved. 

The Cheshire Derby encounter finished 1-1 with both sets of fans leaving the stadium safely (Ryan Parker).

"As supporters entered the ground, one man was arrested for possession of Class A drugs."
