A large family-run hire company has submitted proposals to build a new facility on derelict land in Crewe - replacing its existing unit.

P.E.T. Hire, Earle Street, submitted proposals for land off Dunwoody Way on Thursday 19 January.

The independent tool and plant hire company wants to construct a new building on derelict land next to McDonald's - replacing its existing Earle Street store.

P.E.T. Hire's Dunwoody Way building would be 25 per cent bigger than Earle Street (Ryan Parker).

Targeted for 2024 opening, the development would consist of a new building with a 28-space car park.

A service yard and mezzanine floor will also be constructed - providing upper floor space.

The new building would be 25 per cent bigger than P.E.T. Hire's current Crewe facility.

P.E.T. director, Carl Banks, was excited with the companies latest proposals.

On Tuesday (January 31), he told Nub News: "We've just submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council.

P.E.T. Hire's application site is currently vacant - previously occupied by Bombardier (Ryan Parker).

"Its our 50th anniversary of trading in 2024.

"The new unit will be 25 per cent bigger than Earle Street which opened in 2015.

"We are looking for new staff and hope to be moved in on Dunwoody Way in 2024."

P.E.T. Hire aims to employ nine full-time staff and five part-time at its new Dunwoody Way site.

The Crewe companies' application site is currently vacant - previously occupied by Bombardier.

This land has not been occupied for almost a decade - with McDonald's opening nearby in 2015.

P.E.T. Hire expanded into its current, 22,000 sq ft, Earle Street store in 2015 (Ryan Parker).

The P.E.T. Hire building would be accessed via a short spur road off Dunwoody Way - also serving McDonalds.

The last day for submitting comments is Wednesday 1 March with a target decision date of Thursday 20 April.
