Man, 39, charged after attempting to break in to Crewe home past 4am

A Crewe man has been charged with going equipped for theft and one count of possession of amphetamine (class B) in the West End.

On Saturday 8 February, Cheshire Police were alerted to an early morning incident near Ford Lane.

Around 4.20am, officers arrived at the scene, discovering a man wearing a balaclava had entered the rear yard of a Crewe property.

Cheshire Police arrested Mateusz Gorka on Derby Street around 4.50am, following a short foot chase (Ryan Parker).

Officers located the man nearby, arresting him on Derby Street following a short foot chase around 4.50am.

Mateusz Gorka, 39, of Crewe St. Barnabas, has since been charged with the listed offences.

Gorka is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 26 February.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "On Saturday 8 February, around 4.20am, we received reports of a male wearing a balaclava entering a rear yard of a property in Crewe.

"Mateusz Gorka, 39, of Crewe St. Barnabas, was arrested on Derby Street at around 4.50am, after a short foot chase with officers.

Mateusz Gorka, 39, of Crewe St. Barnabas, is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 26 February (Cheshire Police).

"He has since been charged with one count of going equipped for theft and one count of possession of a controlled drug of Class B, namely Amphetamine.

"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 26 February."
