Main road on edge of Crewe town centre closed until Monday

A main road on the edge of Crewe town centre is closed until Monday, allowing an energy company to carry out "essential" utility repair and maintenance works.

Scottish Power Renewable Energy are responsible for the six-day closure. All businesses on Oak street remain accessible.

Oak Street Roundabout, coming from Oak Street, is unaccessible. Pedestrian access is still being maintained.

A Scottish Power closure sign reads: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.

"If you have any queries about these essential works please contact us on: 0845 330 8615."

Once Oak Street reopens on 2 September, Mill Street, between Brook Street and Oak Street Roundabout will close.

Mill Street is expected to reopen again on Friday 15 November, with works targeted to take 10 and a half weeks.

Oak Street Roundabout, coming from Oak Street, is unaccessible. Pedestrian access is still being maintained (Ryan Parker).

Cheshire East Council is responsible for the closure, as part of The Southern Gateway Scheme.

The closure allows for changes to the footpath arrangements underneath Mill Street bridge.
