Local man arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after van crashes into Crewe traffic lights

A 54-year-old 'local man' has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving - after a van crashed into a set of Crewe traffic lights.

The incident on Vernon Way, near to the junction of Badger Avenue, happened at 4:10pm on Sunday 30 April.

Cheshire Police quickly arrived at the scene - finding a traffic light crushed under a van.

Officers arrested the driver of the van, a 54-year-old man, on suspicion of drug-driving (Cheshire Police).

The man has since been released under investigation - pending further enquiries.

On Wednesday 3 May, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "At 4.07pm on Sunday 30 April, police were called to reports that a van had collided with the traffic lights on Vernon Way, near to the junction of Badger Avenue.

"Officers attended and the driver of the van, a 54-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

The man has since been released under investigation - pending further enquiries (Cheshire Police).
