Local man arrested after Crewe resident 'assaulted with a hammer'
Cheshire Police officers have arrested a local man for grievous bodily harm, after allegedly assaulting a Crewe resident "with a hammer" in the town.
On Monday 24 July, Cheshire Police officers were called to reports of an assault at an address on Frank Webb Avenue.
At around 7.50pm, officers arrived at the scene, locating a man with head injuries.
The man, a 34-year-old from Crewe, said he had been assaulted with a hammer and was taken to Leighton Hospital.
A 49-year-old "local man" was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault (GBH), in relation to the incident.
He has since been released on conditional bail.
The Crewe resident has since been discharged from hospital, with enquiries ongoing into the incident.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 7.50pm on Monday 24 July officers on patrol on Frank Webb Avenue, found a man with head injuries.
"The man, a 34-year-old from Crewe, stated that he had been assaulted with a hammer.
"He was taken to Leighton Hospital and has since been discharged.
"The injuries sustained are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.
"A 49-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault in relation to the incident.
"He has since been released on conditional bail.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML 1605155."
