Local drummer honours National Moment of Reflection on Crewe driveway
Members of the public took part in a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - with a local drummer paying tribute.
The National Moment of Reflection took place at 8pm on Sunday (September 18), the night before the State Funeral - marked by a one-minute silence.
Mr Rob Richardson, a Drummer in the Royal Welch Fusilier Corps of Drums Association, honoured the Queen by playing his side drum on his Lear Drive driveway in Wistaston.
He performed music including the Nimrod, I Vow To Thee My Country, Drummers Call, and a piece he composed himself called "A Drummers Farewell," before The Last Post leading up to the one-minute silence at 8pm.
Mr Richardson then played Reveille and the National Anthems of both Great Britain and Wales.
The local man was joined by many neighbours who came out and observed the period of silence and then joined in singing 'God Save the King.'
Mr Richardson said: "As a drummer for the Royal Welch Fusiliers I have felt duty bound to pay my respects in some small way.
"I have the utmost respect for the hundreds of thousands who have made their way to London and have queued for over 30 hours to pay their respects, and this is my way of paying mine.
"The country has lost its Queen, but a family has lost its Mum, Grandma and Great Grandma, and to those who have served in whatever context she was simply "The Boss".
"This is something that the country won't realise what it had until now its been lost, but for now Long Live the King."
