THE funeral of a priest who conducted numerous Remembrance Services is to be live streamed because of the numbers expected to attend.

Many tributes were paid after Rev. Ken Sambrook passed away on November 10 with the churches of St Mary's in Wistaston and St Luke's in Willaston describing him as "humble, gentle, selfless and caring".

The Rev. Sambrook's funeral is to take place on Monday, November 29 at St Mary's Church in Wistaston starting at 11.30am.

St Mary's minister, the Rev. Mike Turnbull, said: "We anticipate Ken's funeral being very well attended and priority in church will obviously be given to family and close friends.

"With this in mind we are going to simultaneously live stream Ken's funeral to the Church Hall."

Once the church is full mourners are being directed to the Church Hall, which will also open at 11am.

The church says Covid measures will be in place and face coverings need to be worn when entering and leaving, but because of the expected numbers there will be no socially-distanced seating available.

Tributes were paid to the Rev. Sambrook at Remembrance Sunday services last weekend.

As well as his work as a Royal British Legion padre, he was known for his voluntary efforts as a Sunday School leader and Venture and Scout leader.

He was an active fundraiser for Diabetes UK and his community work once earned him the accolade of Wistonian of the Year in Wistaston.

The Rev. Sambrook's funeral service can be watched on YouTube.
