Leading UK trainer and sports fashion retailer confirm Crewe Grand Junction Retail Park move

JD Sports is moving away from Crewe town centre - for a 'bigger store' on Crewe's Grand Junction Retail Park.

The sports-fashion retail company will be joining the likes of River Island and M&S in departing the town centre for the retail park.

It comes as a big blow for Queensway, which has also lost Topshop and G Carter Jewellers in recent years.

For the Grand Junction Retail Park, this is another boost following the news that PureGym will be opening in the former Sofology unit - yesterday.

PureGym's exact location in Crewe confirmed.

A JD Sports spokesperson confirmed the move to Nub News, stating: "I can confirm that JD is moving into a bigger store on the retail park later in the summer."

It will be opening inside unit 1B, Grand Junction Way, formerly of Poundstretcher.

The discount store closed in 2021, moving into the Market Shopping Centre in Crewe town centre - something that is now a rare switch for retailers.

JD Sports stated that they would not be providing more information about its new store Crewe at this current time but would in the coming months.

Wren Kitchens were also expected to open on the retail park - next door to the planned PureGym.

It has since pulled out of the unit, despite recruiting for staff last year.

A spokesperson told Nub News: "We are no longer pursuing a showroom location in Crewe. We may look to relocate here again."
