PureGym's exact location in Crewe confirmed
A UK gym chain's exact location on the Grand Junction Retail Park has been confirmed - following a submitted planning application.
PureGym will be opening at unit 13, Grand Junction Way - formerly occupied by Sofology.
On a planning application submitted to Cheshire East Council, PureGym seek permission for external alterations to the existing retail unit and the installation of an air conditioning plant in a discreet location.
PureGym has applied to increase the structural opening on the East side of the building to allow for a new fire door. Another new fire door will also be placed in a new wall opening.
It has also applied to replace the existing entrance doors with automatic bi-folding doors by Horton Automatics. A roller shutter will be removed to match the existing external finishes.
In February, the 24-hour gym confirmed that it would be opening on the Grand Junction Retail Park rather than the Pheonix Leisure Park.
The reason for this change was the time scale involved for approval - the 24-hour plan caused complaints from local residents in the area of the former MFA Bowl, as well as Crewe Town Council who objected regarding noise pollution.
On PureGym's website it states: "Welcome to our Crewe Grand Junction retail park gym.
"If you're looking for a great-value gym in Crewe with all the latest kit you need to achieve your fitness goals, then stop your search right now.
"We're currently fitting out your new no contract 24/7 gym with a state-of-the-art functional area, cardio equipment, free weights area (with dumbbells up to 50kg) and more.
"We're conveniently located in the Grand Junction Retail Park, on Grand Junction Way in Crewe, where you can park for free on site.*
The proposed works are deemed to be relatively minor and will not significantly alter the appearance of the existing commercial unit.
Cheshire East Council are currently considering the application for a lawful development certificate to confirm that the application site can be lawfully used for any unit within Class E (commercial, business and service).
When contacted by Crewe Nub News, PureGym did not wish to comment further on its plans, including when the new gym can be expected to open.
The gym is expected to open later this year.
