Glam rock star takes Crewe Alex lounge by storm after dramatic victory
By Ryan Parker 2nd Mar 2026
A glam rock star helped create an unforgettable atmosphere at Crewe Alexandra's hospitality lounge, following Saturday's dramatic late win over Tranmere Rovers.
Fans inside the Hybrid Lounge were already in jubilant spirits after Crewe secured a thrilling 2-1 victory in injury time, but celebrations reached another level when surprise guest Clive Jackson took to the stage.
Jackson, best known as the frontman of Doctor and the Medics, whose iconic cover of 'Spirit in the Sky' reached number one in the UK in 1986, had been enjoying a meal in the lounge before the match.
Although not a lifelong Crewe supporter, Jackson revealed he has a soft spot for the Railwaymen and has attended games at The Mornflake Stadium on several occasions.

Matchday host, John Rodgers, spotted the music star in attendance and told Alex supporters in the lounge, before inviting him onto the stage to perform.
Introducing himself and explaining why he was at the game, Jackson delighted fans by performing an impromptu rendition of Spirit in the Sky.
He then followed up with another song, with supporters singing along as celebrations continued long after the final whistle.
With emotions already running high following Crewe's last-gasp winner, the performance capped what many described as one of the best post-match atmospheres seen in the hospitality area.
Crewe Alexandra later presented Jackson with a personalised Alex shirt featuring the words Spirit in the Skyto mark the occasion.
Speaking afterwards, Rodgers joked: "I think given the success of that performance, I haven't been done out of a job just yet. I've never seen the lounge like that after a match, the atmosphere was electric."
Celebrations were further boosted by a live set from Definitely KB, keeping supporters entertained with popular Oasis and Britpop classics.
Railway Supporters' Society chairman Mark Beavan, who attended the event, said: "It's one of the best days I've seen here.
"Clive Jackson certainly helped make it very special."
