A road in Crewe is currently closed due to a "highway collapse," after a giant 20-foot deep sinkhole appeared.
The sinkhole appeared on Middlewich Street, close to its junction with Sherbourne Road, on Monday 29 July.
A number of local residents reported the issue to Cheshire East Council, with vehicles continuing to drive over the stretch of road for several hours.
Later that day, Cheshire East Highways closed Middlewich Street between the junctions of Micklewright Avenue and Elm drive.
A road closure is now in place until at last Saturday 3 August. There is the potential it could be in place for up to three weeks.
Pedestrian access to any premises situated within the temporary closure will be maintained at all times.
Cyclists will be required to dismount in order for access to be maintained.
Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.
Cheshire East Council (CEC) Highways said: "Emergency closure: Middlewich Street near the junction of Sherbourne Road, Crewe, is closed due to a highway collapse.
"We are currently working with United Utilities to investigate the cause before repair work can be undertaken as soon as possible.
"We apologise for any inconvenience due to this unavoidable closure."
