CreweCreates will be moving inside the former Burton Menswear/Dorothy Perkins unit at 77-83 Market Street this October.

Earlier this summer, the 7,205 sq ft building was sold at auction to a local businessman for an undisclosed fee.

Standing empty since August 2021, it is understood all floors of the corner building will be utilised.

Closing its pop-up store on 27 September, CreweCreates has confirmed it will reopen its brand new artspace on Monday 13 October.

CreweCreates Artspace opened a pop-up shop at 12 Victoria Street, following support from the Repurposing Our High Street project (CreweCreates).

CreweCreates said: "After nearly a year in our current Artspace, we are moving - just across the road.

"Our new home will be in the old Burtons department store, a much bigger space that gives us room to grow, dream, and create even more opportunities for local people and artists.

"We will be opening the full building in stages, starting downstairs, and we have got loads of ideas and plans in the pipeline to make it truly special for our communities.

"To make it happen, we'll be taking a short break while we roll up our sleeves and, with the help of our brilliant volunteers, get everything ready.

"We will reopen the doors to our brand-new Artspace on Monday 13 October. If you would like to get involved and volunteer to help us with the move, we would love to hear from you — drop us a message at [email protected]."

This move comes as Greggs, Market Street, will be relocating to 12 Victoria Street, temporarily taken on by the CreweCreates Artspace.

Greggs will close its Market Street shop the first week of November, reopening the new store simultaneously (Ryan Parker).

Opening this November, the new Greggs shop will have public toilets and a bigger range of food and drink.

Iced coffee will also be served at the new unit, with new made-to-order options available.

Greggs will close its Market Street shop in November, reopening the new store simultaneously.
