Five-year order imposed on Crewe Shar-Pei owner after 'cat killing'

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

A CREWE dog owner has been handed a five-year order to keep his canine under control after it killed a cat.

Paul McKenzie Robinson appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court to answer a complaint made to Cheshire Police following the incident involving his pet, a Shar-Pei called Oscar.

Joanne Clarke, for the constabulary, told the court that a Miss Bailey had "attested" that Oscar "had killed the cat" and added: "This is a fact that is not disputed."

She said that Robinson, 54, of Davenport Avenue in Crewe, did not contest the order which sought to ensure the dog is kept under proper control.

"We have to make sure that other people and animals are safe when this dog is out," added Ms Clarke.

Magistrates agreed to make the order which will run until August 9, 2026.

It means that Oscar has to be kept on a lead and muzzled when in public places when he will need to be accompanied by his owner.

The dog will also have to be microchipped and registered and will need to be covered by third party insurance.
