A Crewe family left homeless by a devastating house fire in the town, has launched a fundraiser to help replace everything they lost.

The fire broke out on Hungerford Road on Wednesday 22 July, leaving the family facing the loss of almost everything they owned.

Mother, Jemma Rogerson, was at home with her toddler and two cats when the smoke alarm sounded.

She went upstairs and saw black smoke filling the hallway, before spotting a "massive glow" coming from the bedroom.

Jemma grabbed her toddler, who was only wearing a nappy, and ran outside while still in her pyjamas and without shoes.

Her partner returned home and ran into the burning property to rescue their two cats before Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived within minutes.

The entire top floor suffered fire and smoke damage, with significant smoke damage also affecting downstairs.

The family is now staying with relatives while friends care for their cats.

Jemma told Nub News: "The whole thing was so traumatic, I was in the house with my toddler and two cats when it happened.

"We've lost almost everything we've worked so hard for, now just trying to make our toddler feel safe and secure whilst we're also trying to sort out this mess.

"We are so thankful for family and friends, our child's nursery and the Crewe community, who have been absolutely amazing support, yet we are still left with so much trauma and a lot of things to replace."

The family has since been told they will not receive a payout for their personal belongings.

They have increased their fundraiser target to £4,000 to help replace clothing, furniture, beds, household essentials and belongings for their child.

At the time of this article being published, it has raised £1,904.

The family said: "Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards replacing clothing, furniture, beds, household essentials, our child's belongings, and other everyday items that were lost."
