Fire officers put out overheated chimney stack in Shavington

FIREFIGHTERS put out a chimeny fire at a house in Shavington last night.

They were called out at 10.20pm to a property in Osborne Grove where they carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters then removed bricks in a bedroom to gain access to the chimney flue where hotspots were found in the stack.

A Cheshire Fire and Resuce Service spokesman said: "A chimney hose and chimney rods were used to make the property safe and bricks were removed from the chimney stack.

"Once were were satisfied that the property was safe the firefighters left the address."

The fire crew were at the the address for around an hour and 10 minutes.
