FIRE officers have issued a safety warning after they put out two kitchen blazes.

One fire engine attended at a property in Ludford Street at 10.10pm last night where the chip pan fire was already out but the occupant had suffered burns to his arms. He did not need hospital treatment.

Firefighters isolated the electricity supply to the kitchen and used a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots to make sure the property was safe.

Earlier in the afternoon two fire officers were called to a home in West Street after reports of a smoke alarm sounding. The fire involving a grill pan had activated the alarm, but was out on arrival.

Crewe Fire Station tweeted: "Last night we attended an incident involving a chip pan, please don't leave cooking unattended and never try to tackle a fire yourself, as this can cause more damage to the property and could cause serious injuries to you."
