Crewe fireworks business leaves Hightown for new shop in 'busier' area
By Ryan Parker 13th Sep 2026
A Crewe fireworks business is leaving its Hightown home after over a decade to move to a new shop on Nantwich Road, citing town centre struggles for its relocation.
Blitz Fireworks has confirmed it is relocating to 192 Nantwich Road, with the new shop opening this September.
The award-winning business has been based in Hightown since 2013.
Director, John Malam, said the move was driven by the level of passing trade on Nantwich Road, particularly for its balloon business.
He told Nub News: "We have moved to what we believe is a busier retail area for balloons, whereas fireworks are a destination purchase.
"Lots more passing traffic on Nantwich Road and a town centre that is struggling badly means we had little choice to be honest.

"The new shop looks fabulous. Staff are working flat out preparing it. Our new sign has been delivered."
Blitz Fireworks will no longer sell fancy dress from the new premises, but remaining stock from the Hightown shop will be sold at heavily reduced prices.
The new shop will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm, although the hours will be confirmed once the business is open.
Blitz Fireworks was formed in 2007 after John developed a passion for fireworks during his childhood.
The company expanded in 2017, opening a larger retail store selling fireworks, balloons and fancy dress to the public.
It has since expanded into other areas of the events industry, including event equipment hire and commercial festive lighting design and installation for towns across the North West.
The September 15 opening date is the earliest possible, with John saying the following week would be the "worst case scenario".
