Fire crews tackle 'well-developed' house blaze in Crewe

Fire crews tackled a "well-developed" house blaze in Crewe, after receiving reports people were potentially trapped inside.

On Tuesday 2 January, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of an incident on Sable Road, Shavington.

At around 9pm, two fire engines from Crewe, one fire engine and a rapid response rescue unit from Nantwich arrived at the scene.

On arrival, Firefighters discovered a serious blaze on the first-floor of a property.

Crews entered the house with two hose reel jets, searching for any occupants inside.

Thankfully, they could confirm nobody was trapped inside the property, with the occupant said to be safe and well.

Firefighters quickly put out the blaze, using a high-pressure fan used to clear the smoke.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A house fire with a person or people trapped inside was reported.

"When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a well-developed fire on the first floor of the property.

"Firefighters in breathing apparatus deployed with two hose reel jets to search the house.

"They fortunately discovered there was nobody trapped inside, with the occupier accounted for.

An investigation into the cause of the Sable Road fire is being carried out (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

"Gas and electricity supplies were isolated as they tackled the blaze and monitored the roof spaces of the affected and neighbouring properties for any hotspots.

"A high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke. An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out."
