TWO people were evacuated from their home in Wistaston after a chip pan fire.
Fire officers led the pair, who were suffering the effects of smoke inhalation, from the property in Thirlmere Road yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.
They were given first aid and treated by paramedics, but they did not need to attend hospital.
Two fire engines from Crewe Fire Station and one from Nantwich Fire Station attended the semi-detached property around 3.30pm and spent an hour putting out the fire.
A covering jet and a cordon were both set up by fire crews who removed the chip pan, while the gas and electricity supplies to the property were isolated.
A large fan was used to clear smoke from the house.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service advise people to read guidelines on chip pan fire safety here.
It proved to be a busy Sunday for fire crews. Later in the afternoon they dealt with an arson attack on a van in Samuel Armstrong Way in Crewe.
Firefighters spent half an hour dousing the blaze, which is believed to have been started deliberately.
Then in the evening one engine from Crewe was called out after a fire broke out in woodland at the bottom of Laburnum Avene in Wistaston, on the perimeter of Joey the Swan.
Again that fire is likely to have been started deliberately.
Anyone with any information about both suspicious fires should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 989628, or give the details here.
