Experienced striker joins Crewe Alex in club's first summer signing
Crewe Alexandra FC have signed experienced striker Kane Hemmings from Stevenage, becoming the club's first incoming of the summer transfer window.
Hemmings had been in talks with The Boro about a new deal but instead opted to join the Railwaymen on a 12-month contract, with the option of another year.
The 32-year-old scored seven goals in 40 appearances during his one-year Stevenage stint in League One last season.
Hemmings, who started as a youth with Rangers, played 10 times for the Glasgow side between 2011 and 2013.
Before Stevenage, Hemmings spent 18 months at Tranmere Rovers, netting 16 times.
Hemmings has also played for the likes of Burton Albion, Notts County, Mansfield Town, Oxford United Barnsley, Dundee and Cowdenbeath.
The Burton-born striker who joined Crewe to be closer to home, has made a total of 460 career appearances, scoring 159 times.
Hemmings joins Crewe after forward Elliot Nevitt left The Alex to join Gillingham in May.
The future of Courtney Baker-Richardson is yet to be decided with Crewe offering the striker a new contract following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
A Crewe Alex statement read: "Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome Kane and wish him the best of luck during his time with the club."
